An initial consultation is arranged first to develop a treatment plan, discuss realistic expectations, explain costs and consider if any pre-treatment skin preparation is required, and whether any downtime is anticipated after the treatment. When facial areas are being treated any make up or sunscreen will need to be removed on the day of treatment.
Immediately after treatment some redness, swelling and a slight burning sensation (like mild sunburn) are usual. Local areas of bruising sometimes occur especially if you have been taking blood thinning medication or certain herbal supplements. Rapid recovery occurs over the first 48 hours, but may be longer in more sensitive skin types or after stronger treatments. In the first 2 days after a GENIUS treatment, it is recommended that care is used when touching the skin, in particular avoid touching treated areas with dirty hands or towels. A gentle moisturiser and SPF can be used frequently and mineral makeup, such as Oxygentics, can be worn the next day. Active skincare products such as Vitamin C, Vitamin A (Retinols) and exfoliants should be avoided on the treated area for 1 week after treatment.
