Laser Genesis is an innovative treatment that gently heats the different levels of the skin to increase the skin’s collagen production, break down damaged capillaries and shrink pores on the surface of the skin.
Laser Genesis involves the laser handpiece being moved back and forth over your skin to result in gentle warming of the upper dermal layer of the skin to stimulate collagen and reduce redness. Thousands of pulses of 1064nm laser energy are delivered in microsecond pulse duration. The repeating pulses of low energy slowly heat the layers of the skin, in particular the microvasculature, and this results in the stimulation of collagen production.
Laser Genesis is the treatment of choice for patients who want a gentle treatment to target overall skin redness, large pores, fine lines and overall skin texture.
It will improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars. It can be used to help treat Rosacea and diffuse facial redness and the difficult to treat Poikiloderma (neck redness).
Laser Genesis can be safely used on all body parts except close to the eye.
The procedure is quick, painless with no downtime.
Large areas like a full face are typically treated with 5,000-10,000 pulses whilst small areas like scars may only need 500-1,000 pulses. This large number of pulses doesn’t mean it takes a long time for a Laser Genesis treatment as pulses are delivered as fast as 10 pulses every second.
A typical Laser Genesis treatment takes 20-30 minutes but will be longer if it is part of a combination treatment such as a Genesis Peel.
The cost for a standard Laser Genesis treatment is $220 per treatment. When Laser Genesis is combined with a Peel (Genesis Peel) the cost is $350.
It will depend on the problem but many patients have an initial series of 4-6 treatments then maintenance Laser Genesis treatments every 4-6 months.
Many patients benefit from skin preparation prior to treatment with AHA/BHA and/or Vitamin A as well as using a Broad spectrum sunscreen.
No spray tan on the area for at least 2 weeks before treatment. Any make up or sunscreen will need to be removed on the day of treatment. No anaesthetic cream is needed. Areas with cosmetic tattoos or permanent make up need to be avoided.
Mild redness may occur briefly after treatment and excessive sun exposure should be avoided immediately after treatment. Makeup and/or sunscreen can be applied immediately after treatment.
