Get rid of unwanted hair for good.
Imagine never having to deal with shaving or waxing, ever again? Now you can thanks to effective, cosmetic medical-grade laser hair removal treatments. This safe, effective and lasting treatment is the best beauty investment you will ever make.
For hair removal our approach is to provide a cost effective option with the:
We recognise there are now countless salons, spas and clinics offering laser hair removal often at extremely cheap prices and performed everywhere from shopping centres, hairdressers, nail salons and even in peoples garages. Chain clinics often use cheap hair removal as a marketing ploy to attract people then pressure and upsell them into more expensive treatments. This has all happened because there is no regulation in Victoria on laser hair removal, on the quality or safety of machines being used, where they can be used and any minimum requirement for the qualifications of those using these machines.
Many men and women dream of being hair free in certain areas, and until recently, a lasting solution has always seemed like an unlikely dream. Now though, with just 4-6 treatments, depending on your unique hair, we can help you avoid the skin irritation involved in shaving and waxing with permanent laser hair removal.
The most common areas women usually choose to treat with laser hair removal are the face, underarm, bikini line and legs. For men, it’s usually the back, shoulders, upper arms and chest.
Our cosmetic medical lasers work by concentrating light into the hair follicles, inhibiting their ability to grow. Thanks to modern technology, laser hair removal treatments specifically target the pigment in the hair follicle with minimal heating and potential damage to the skin around the hair follicle.
The lasers we use at our clinic are the highest medical grade, and yield the safest and most effective results. By choosing a reputable cosmetic medical laser treatment, you minimise your risk of skin burning and irritation, and thanks to their efficacy the best results can be obtained.
Laser hair removal works best on dark hair when contrasted against lighter skin, but we do have special lasers for those with darker skin.
Lasting hair removal is a dream for so many men and women, but that’s not the only benefit of this treatment. Our laser hair removal treatments yield:
All skin types can be treated however you should not be sun tanned at the time of treatment, as your skin may react to the laser causing irritation and even patchy loss of normal skin colour (hypopigmentation).
Cooling of the skin during and after treatment is important but especially when treating darker skin types to reduce the risk of skin damage because the larger amount of natural skin pigment increases the risk of skin reaction with laser treatment.
No. White hair cannot be ‘sensed,’ by the laser, but all other hairs can be treated. White hairs are best treated by electrolysis. It’s important to note that laser hair removal works best on darker pigmented hair. Darker hair and lighter skin (contrast) predict a better result. Blonde, grey and red hairs do not respond as well as darker hairs.
We do not recommend treatment before puberty, and advise caution in treating fine, light coloured, immature hair follicles (Vellus hair) by laser as it may actually stimulate the hairs to develop into thicker and darker mature hairs.
Everyone responds differently to laser hair removal, however, hair removal by medical-grade laser is long lasting. Over time though, small hairs may pop up from time to time, but we can remove them with a few isolated laser hair treatments.
Realistic expectations are important when undergoing laser hair removal, as everyone responds differently because your unique skin and hair is not like anyone else’s If your hair growth is due to hormonal factors then maintenance treatments may be needed.
Sometimes a small area is treated to see how a patient’s hair and skin responds to laser before a full treatment is undertaken. This is called a test patch and it also serves to give a patient an idea of what the process feels like and what sort of skin reaction to expect after treatment.
Compared to waxing, laser hair removal is virtually pain free! Great news right? Our cosmetic medical-grade lasers are both safe and effective, and yield a slight ‘tingle’ or ‘sting’ rather than soreness or pain. Some patients report it feeling like a hairband is being snapped against the skin, but the sensation only lasts a second. For very sensitive areas like the Bikini area in women some patients choose to use topical anaesthetic cream (eg EMLA).
It’s very important to avoid any sun exposure to the area before treatment and if you have a tan then treatment may need to be delayed as a tan increases the risk of skin reaction. Also ensure fake tan products are not on the area on the day of treatment.
Avoid waxing or plucking the area in the 2 weeks leading up to your treatment as it can make your hair harder for the laser to sense and target. For body areas you can exfoliate and shave the area within 48 hours of your treatment, but do not apply creams or moisturisers on the morning of treatment. With our lasers there is no need to shave the facial area before treatment.
Immediately after treatment we recommend a cold pack and then the application of a soothing cream such as a mild hydrocortisone cream or Centella. Mild redness and slight tenderness are expected straight after treatment and usually settles quickly but in some can last several days.
For a few days after treatment avoid saunas, steam rooms and anything that could cause excessive heating and sweating. Exercise is fine after laser treatment, however, use common sense and avoid too much friction in the treated area.
Avoid any sun on the treated area immediately after treatment, and essentially treat it like an area of sunburn and as such it will be more sensitive to sun exposure.
After 1-2 weeks sun exposure can occur however remember if the area becomes tanned then follow up laser treatments will have to be delayed until the tan resolves.
Before and after images are presented purely as a reference point of the results that can be achieved. Everyone is unique and outcomes will vary and realistic expectations need to be discussed on a case by case basis.
