Every face is unique, and we all want ours to look and feel as best as possible. At Collins Cosmetic Clinic, we can help you achieve results that will make your skin look younger and feel fresher.
Understanding how we age, and how our faces work, can give us greater insight into managing our skin. In this video, we briefly introduce muscle relaxants, explaining what they are and how they can improve the quality of your skin.
What are muscle relaxants?
Muscle relaxation treatments – also known as wrinkle treatments – are a non-surgical procedure involving natural proteins that act to relax wrinkle-causing muscles, rejuvenating the appearance of affected areas.
Relaxants are used primarily to treat areas of the face where wrinkles tend to build up: around the eyes with crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines – the vertical lines between the eyebrows. In addition to eliminating lines, muscle relaxants are also an effective method for preventing further line formation.
How do muscle relaxant treatments work?
Muscle relaxation treatments are used to relax specific facial muscles that cause wrinkles over time, mostly as a result of the everyday facial expressions we all make. By applying muscle relaxants, you can prevent specific muscles from contracting when you make expressions, allowing for not only a gradual smoothing of the lines, but further prevention in the formation of new lines.
At Collins Cosmetic Clinic our treatments take no longer than 15 minutes. You can expect to see visible results taking effect within a couple of days following treatment, with the full effects becoming noticeable after a week.
At Collins Cosmetic Clinic we have a wealth of experience in treating and advising clients on muscle relaxant procedures. We’ll work with you to effectively administer muscle relaxants, removing wrinkles and restoring volume to your face in the process.
Additionally, in consultation with our experts, we will advise you on the necessary dosage, which will depend on the severity of the wrinkles and lines on your face.
Muscle relaxants can last up to 4 months before lines begin to reappear. However, treatments at regular intervals can offset the re-emergence of lines and wrinkles, producing effects which last significantly longer.
Are there any side effects?
Muscle relaxant treatments are a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure. Common side effects include slight pains, swelling, redness or itchiness; however, these side effects are localised to the area of injection and are generally both harmless and short term in their effect. Moreover, the treatment works specifically on the muscles treated, which means that untreated facial muscled will not be affected.
