Your personalised journey to healthier skin starts here.
At the Collins Cosmetic Clinic, we are a medically run practice led by experienced cosmetic doctors on-site leading a team of practitioners working together to deliver effective and long-lasting results in a safe and ethical manner. We have been established over 25 years and have handpicked staff including experienced Injecting Nurses and University trained Dermal Clinicians.
We offer a range of initial consultations to assess your concerns and then work with you to build a tailored treatment plan to achieve results within your budget.
No two skins are the same and everyone has different concerns and goals so a personalised approach is the key to achieving a great result. An initial Skin Consultation is a very important step in establishing a client’s main concerns and lays the foundation for an effective individualised treatment plan. Even if you have had skin treatments elsewhere in the past we strongly recommend a Skin Consultation before medical grade skin treatments. Skin conditions such as Acne, Sun Damage, Ageing, Pigmentation, Redness and Scarring can be assessed.
At the Collins Cosmetic Clinic, your Skin Consultation will be with one of our Dermal Clinicians. A Dermal Clinician has a University degree in Health Science specialising in skin and skin treatments.
You should bring a list of your current skincare products and details of any prescription medications or nutritional supplements you are taking.
Common questions to expect include:
Any makeup will need to be removed as a Skin Consultation will involve an in-depth assessment of your skin including a computerised Skin Analysis (Link to Dermal Treatments/Skin Analysis, also change cost from $50 to $90 in text).
After your skin has been assessed and analysed you will be given advice on skin care appropriate for your skin and a treatment plan to improve and maintain the health of your skin. If clinic treatments are recommended you will be given information on the procedure including costs and whether any skin preparation is needed.
Allow 30 minutes.
No. As we don’t know what treatment is best for your skin until your skin is assessed treatments are scheduled at another time. It is also important to understand that for the best results with medical-grade skin treatments that some skin preparation is often needed before treatment to both get the best results and also to reduce the chance of any possible skin reaction and downtime after treatment. The cost for a Skin Consultation is redeemable against any future dermal treatment at our clinic.
A Hair Removal Consultation at our clinic will assess your skin type, hair type, any medical factors that might affect response and then give realistic expectations. It is important to understand that response to laser hair removal varies both between people and in different areas on the same person.
Our approach is to provide a cost-effective laser hair removal option with the:
At the Collins Cosmetic Clinic, your Skin Consultation will be with one of our Dermal Clinicians. A Dermal Clinician has a University degree in Health Science specialising in skin and laser skin treatments including laser hair removal.
It is important to remember there are no regulations in Victoria on the quality or safety of hair removal lasers, where they can be used and who uses them. There are countless salons and clinics offering cheap hair removal usually because of inferior equipment, poorly trained staff or as a marketing ploy to then pressure customers into other expensive procedures.
You should bring a list of any current prescription medications you are taking. The area that you wish to have hair removal will need to be looked at to assess skin type and hair type.
Common questions to expect include:
A Test Patch where a small area is treated by Laser to remove hair is usually performed to check hair response and skin reaction.
Allow 15 minutes.
Not usually, unless it is only a fairly small area for hair removal. Treatment will not be performed if you have tanned skin.
For many patients, a Test Patch is performed that involves treating a small area. A Test Patch serves the dual purpose of checking how your skin and hair responds to laser hair removal and also giving you the experience of what Laser hair removal feels like. The cost for a Hair Removal Consultation is redeemable against any future hair removal or dermal treatment at our clinic.
An Injectable Consultation considers the use of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers to treat a variety of conditions but primarily wrinkles, lines, volume loss, lip enhancement and eye rejuvenation. We know what works and we know when enough is enough. We will listen to your concerns and goals, assess your skin and medical history and discuss the treatment options. Our aim is to give realistic expectations of how to achieve long-lasting natural results.
At the Collins Cosmetic Clinic, an Injectable Consultation may be with either one of our Cosmetic Doctors or one of our Cosmetic Injecting Nurses depending on your concerns and appointment availability.
Assessing the condition of your skin and discussing the areas you are keen on improving and your treatment goals are the first stage. Medical history is important as there are some medical conditions which preclude the use of certain injectable treatments. In women, injectable treatments cannot be performed when they are pregnant or breastfeeding.
There are often a number of treatment options and these will be explained and in some circumstances, the best advice may be for a treatment we do not offer. We have close connections with other specialists and if we believe that it is in your best interests to have treatment elsewhere we are happy to refer to another appropriate specialist. We value client needs over commercial outcomes or sales targets.
Allow 30 minutes.
It will depend on the type of injectable treatment and whether there are any reasons not to proceed. If treatment is to be with anti-wrinkle injections then this can usually be on the same day. If a dermal filler treatment is needed this may require a separate appointment as there can be some downtime and certain medications and supplements may need to be ceased before dermal filler treatment. Double Chin treatments require a separate treatment appointment. The cost for an Injectable Consultation is redeemable against any future Injectable, hair removal or dermal treatment at our clinic.
A Leg Vein Consultation is the important first step in having the nature and severity of your leg veins assessed and a treatment plan established. Even if your veins appear superficial it is necessary to make sure there are no underlying problems in your deeper veins. Whilst many patients are referred to us by their GP to have their leg veins assessed, a referral is not necessary to be able to claim back a Medicare rebate for a Leg Vein Consultation.
This will be with Dr Garth Dicker. Dr Dicker has a particular interest in Leg Vein problems and was one of the first doctors in Australia to commence a non-surgical leg vein practice. He commenced sclerotherapy and laser treatments of leg veins in 1987 and has performed over 50,000 sclerotherapy treatments and has trained many other doctors in the use of lasers, radiofrequency and sclerotherapy to treat leg veins.
A history will be taken regarding what you have noticed, leg vein symptoms, past vein treatments, family history, other medical history, medications and allergies. A clinical examination will be performed on the full leg on both sides from the groin to the feet, so having a pair of shorts to put on can be helpful. An Ultrasound examination with a Doppler Ultrasound is done to check for obvious problems in the deeper veins particularly at the back of the knees and the groin. The Ultrasound requires some gel on your skin and some squeezing of the leg but is not uncomfortable.
Following the assessment, the nature of your leg veins will be discussed with you and treatment options discussed. It may be necessary to arrange a more detailed Mapping Scan if you have underlying deeper vein issues.
Allow 30 minutes.
No. Until your leg veins have been assessed it will not be known what the best treatment plan will be. The pros and cons of treatment, the costs and any possible complications all need to be discussed before any leg vein treatment appointment is arranged.
