We recognise that lip filler treatments are often done poorly and our approach is to do lip fillers well. We base our approach on an ethical model of listening to what a patient wants and determining their needs, not on a business model of the more product we use the more money we make approach of cosmetic chain clinics.
With over 20 years of experience using Lip fillers, we know that a conservative ‘less is best’ approach that gives the best results and highest patient satisfaction. We know we can always add more lip filler later if needed. The majority of our patients wish to improve the appearance of their lips, but at the same time don’t want anyone to know that they have had something done and the last thing they want are inappropriately large lips and having the so called “trout pout”. We do have other patients, especially younger patients, who want to highlight their lips as a cosmetic feature that they want others to notice, and this is also fine if done correctly, however it is often necessary to educate these patients as to how much is enough.
As we age, the collagen and elasticity within our skin cells makes our lips thinner and flatter. As we lose hyaluronic acid from our cells, our lips also become dehydrated and droopy, with lines and wrinkles forming above the lips and on their sides. These natural changes can be modified by our lip filler or rejuvenation treatments that are a simple walk in, walk out treatment.
We offer a number of exciting lip filler treatments to refresh and rejuvenate your lips. These treatments can be done in isolation, or combined for maximum results.
Our lip rejuvenation and enhancement treatments can be done in a simple day procedure with few associated side effects or soreness. Many people even head straight back to work after their treatment, although some swelling and tenderness is expected.
You should not have lip filler treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and you should defer treatment if you have any active infections. For 2 weeks before treatment you should avoid dental work or vaccinations.
If you have chosen an injectable lip treatment, we recommend avoiding excessive alcohol consumption and high intensity exercise 24 hours prior to your treatment to prevent excessive bruising and swelling. Advise us if you are taking any medications, have allergies or get cold sores.
The risk of bruising is reduced if you stop taking over the counter medications and supplements that can increase bruising such as Aspirin, Anti-inflammatories and Vitamin E.
Anti-wrinkle injections settle almost immediately but some swelling is an expected side effect of lip fillers and needling treatments. Many people return to work after lip treatments but we advise that it is best to schedule your first treatment after work or before days off until you see how much swelling you get. Any swelling tends to peak within 24 hours.
Use of an at-home ice pack and sleeping with an extra pillow on the night after treatment reduces swelling. Also avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and prolonged sun exposure on the day after treatment.
